Why We Sing

Singing energizes my mind and my spirit. It automatically and immediately puts me into a state of flow.

It is an opportunity to interact deeply and intimately with interesting music.

Every season, something new becomes one of my favorite things to sing.

Singing is my weekly respite.

For a few hours I get to shed my other roles and responsibilities and just make music with an incredibly talented group singing repertoire that both we and the audience enjoy.

Listening to a recent recording of ours made my heart melt with happiness.

Singing - the pleasure of music interlaced with words shared from the heart of another soul - is the most inspiring of all art forms.

I eagerly await the inspiration we share with each other at each Coriolis rehearsal and performance.

We have the joy of tackling challenging music - from Gregorian chant and holy minimalism to jazz, from traditional to edgy and adventurous.

We look forward to Monday nights—our refuge—when we can set all else aside and sing, each contributing our unique voice to the ensemble, our voices fuse into [almost] perfect harmony.

As an instrumentalist, singing makes me a better musician. You get a new perspective when your body is your instrument — it's more vulnerable, but it also makes for a rich connection with each other and our audience.

Singing with others is possibly the most spiritual experience I ever have.

The joy I feel, and the connection with the oneness in the universe, that comes from creating harmony, making beautiful music composed by deeply inspired composers is extremely intense and rewarding.

Singing is for a lifetime. It connects us to others and to ourselves...and an appreciative audience makes it all worthwhile!
